Elizabeth joined the staff in 2006 as Executive Director.  She brings more than sixteen years of professional experience in the arts to her position at VSA arts of Georgia.  Elizabeth has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations in the areas of fundraising and development, board development, and grant development.  In previous positions she has been responsible for curriculum design, marketing and promotions, program development, strategic plan development, and customer relationship management. Elizabeth has been involved in the formation of several non-profit arts service groups, is an award winning theatre director and costumer, and a respected acting coach.  She earned her BA in Theatre Arts from Kent State University, and she holds an MBA, with a concentration in Marketing and Strategic Leadership, from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business

Since moving to Atlanta she has taken over the leadership of an all volunteer educational history based non profit group, is alumna of the MAAF Arts Leaders program, is currently a Georgia Center for Non-Profits CEO Central participant/student and has adjudicated the Governors Honors Awards in Theatre for the past three years. She has also served as a mentor for several young women with disabilities around the country pursuing careers in the arts and is a member of the Leadership in Disability Centers Community Steering Committee.


Lea Benson

Lea (lee-ah) began her post in May 2007. Lea comes to us with more than a decade of experience as a successful entrepreneur. She is a jewelry artist, costumer/textile artist and is recognized nationally as a master in historical dance styles as they pertain to the courtly cultures of Central Asia. Lea holds a degree from UGA in anthropology and is working toward an advanced degree in business. In her role as Programs Associate at VSA arts of Georgia, Lea works with senior staff to ensure the success of all of our programs.


Jaehn Clare, M.A.

Jaehn (jane) is trained as a theatre artist, with more than thirty years experience in theatrical production and performance.  She holds a BA in Theatre Arts, with a Minor in Humanities, from the University of Minnesota, and an MA in Dramatic Literature from the University of Essex.  Jaehn is an award-winning playwright, a published author, and a 2006 VSA arts Teaching Artist Fellow.  She served as President to the founding Board of Directors of VSA arts of Minnesota, and has served as a Board Member for a selection of other non-profit arts organizations.  As Director of Artistic Development, Jaehn leads the organization's professional development and Arts Education programs.  She is a member of the Georgia Council for the Arts Touring Artists Roster, and the Arts Education Teaching Artists Bank, the Arts Education Consultants Bank; she is also included in Southern Artistry.  Jaehn also manages Arts for All Gallery and she served the organization as Interim Executive Director from February through April of 2006.


Joan Puckett

Joan is a professional photographer and documentary artist who has worked internationally to highlight the diversity of the human condition. She has volunteered for more than 20 years with global non-profits such as Doctors Without Borders and been featured in solo shows since 1986. She is the founder of the Photography Center of Atlanta. Joan joined VSA arts of Georgia in July 2009 as a part time employee and was promoted to her current position in January 2010.



Jessie Romer

Jessie is a nationally certified sign language interpreter (CI/CT), with an Associates Degree in sign language interpreting from Dekalb College (now Georgia Perimeter College). Her work includes educational settings, business, community, mental health, medical, and theater interpreting.  Originally from the Boston area, she has lived in Atlanta for 11 years. She joined VSA arts of Georgia in 2003.
