An accidental collection gathered by staff member Jaehn Clare during the course of more than nine years working with Arts for Gallery.


THE ART OF COLLECTING

Atlanta, GA ~ VSA arts of Georgia continues its decade long tradition of presenting unique fine art exhibitions in Arts for All Gallery. For the first time in the gallery's history, the organization will present a private collection of artwork, titled The ART OF COLLECTING..…A DECADE’S JOURNEY, opening January 12 and continuing on view through February 19, 2010.  This distinctive exhibit will feature the private collection of Jaehn Clare, who currently serves the organization as Director of Artistic Development.  Clare has been a staff member with VSA arts of Georgia for more than nine years; she has acquired an eclectic collection of artwork, including original one-of-a-kind pieces as well as limited edition prints.  Many of the works comprising this exhibit were created by local artists who have worked or exhibited with the organization during its thirty-five year history, and others were acquired during the course of Clare’s thirty year career in the arts.

Artists represented in the collection include , Lois Curtis, Omari Fox, Robert L. Harris, Vincent Icke, Marquetta Johnson, Mona Khatab, Boyd Lewis, Anthony Milella, Rozelle Morton-Bush, Hope Norris, Sulliman O'Dell, Terry Parker, Bernard Patrick, Julie Puttgen, Byron Sokolik, Patti Sulliva, and Bill Yeatman.

Arts for All Gallery is located in the historic Healey Building at 57 Forsyth Street, NW, in Downtown Atlanta.  In addition to weekday hours, the gallery will host a public reception, on Thursday, February 4, from 5 ~ 8 PM, as part of the monthly FIRST THURSDAY event, Atlanta’s first and original downtown arts walk.  FIRST THURSDAY events are free and open to the public, complimentary light refreshments are provided, and at Arts for All Gallery an ASL interpreter will be present, and live Audio Description is available upon request for patrons with visual impairments.  The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, from 10 AM – 4 PM; there is an ADA-accessible entrance, and admission is always free.

Arts for All Gallery is a program of VSA arts of Georgia, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to the arts for people with disabilities and those of low income.  Major funding for VSA arts of Georgia is provided in part by the Fulton County Commission under the guidance of the Fulton County Arts Council; the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs – Office of the Mayor; and the Georgia Council for the Arts, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly.  VSA arts of Georgia is affiliated by VSA arts, an affiliate of The John F.
