FIRST THURSDAY THIS EVENING

Please join us this evening for a public Meet The Artist Reception for SMART WORKS:  The Art of Tony Smart.

Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 5 - 8 PM

Complimentary refreshments are provided, and an American Sign Language interpreter will be on site.

Featuring dance performance by local artists.
Ann Ritter, in collaboration with Susan Keller and Laurel Lawson, first performed to Ghulam Ali's Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa in 2005.  Ghulam Ali (b. 1940) is one of the more well known and beloved contemporary ghazal singers in Pakistan.  A ghazal (pr. Ghuzzle) is a rhyming poetic form with its roots in Persian literature.  Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa loosely translates, “Why can’t we all just get along?”  The trio reprises their performance for the First Thursday reception in Arts for All Gallery.  Laurel Lawson is a company member of Full Radius Dance; Susan Keller and Ann Ritter most often perform with Beacon Dance Company.

SMART WORKS has been held over through October 15, 2010.
Tony Smart is a self taught artist and photographer who consistently resists being locked into any one type or style of art; when asked about the message he hopes people will draw from his art, he replied, ”I hope they see one of the many faces of God.”

A huge Thank You to the community for the success of "NO LIMITS: A Celebration of Georgia Artists with Disabilities"

On Saturday, August 21, 2010 VSA arts of Georgia celebrated the opening of NO LIMITS, a statewide juried exhibition of visual art including Paintings, Drawings, Collages, Photography, Sculpture, Video and Mixed Media. Artists of all ages entered the competition and their work is displayed and for sale. We were joined by more than 600 friends, new and long time.

NO LIMITS is co-sponsored by and held at Mason Murer Fine Art, an AIA award-winning art gallery located in midtown Atlanta. Thank you so much to the staff of Mason Murer and the members of VSA arts of Georgia's Board for all of their hard work. It is our great pleasure to know that we have such a talented and dedicated group of people working with us to ensure that ALL of the Art is Accessible to ALL of the People ALL of the Time.
